        Details

El-Elyon appoints the sons of God over the nations [Deu 32:8]

The gods partner with the Wicked One, i.e., Satan to the hurt of men. This is contrary to the will of God.

God judges the sons of God

God casts the "gods" into the Lake of Fire.

(The Lake of Fire is the Second Death. This is the only death their kind can die.)

God Kindles the Fire of Gehenna

The wrath of God kindles the fire of Gehenna [Deu 32:21-22]

        Some Facts About Gehenna

        1. The fire of Gehenna was kindled by God's wrath [Deu 32:21-22]
          • It is against sin, e.g., idolatry
          • "...deepest Sheol" in Deu 32:22 is the Abyss (or bottomless pit). The fires of torment burn there already.
        2. The Fire of Gehenna was prepared for Satan and his angels [Mat 25:41]
        3. According to Jesus' words in the story of the rich man and poor Lazarus, the fire is already burning in Sheol/Hades (often translated 'hell') [Luk 16:23]. This is just as God said in Deu 32:22 that the fire kindled by His wrath will burn even in Sheol.

        Condemning and Killing the gods

        1. Putting the gods to death requires a death different from the first death, the death that natural things die. This is because though they do not have power to cure it, the gods--and spirits in general--are themselves immune to the power of natural death.
Now, although God has all power and could put the gods to death at will, however, in keeping with God's ways, putting the gods to death was not simply a matter of power.
        2. Another issue is replacement. Killing the gods would create a vacuum in power and administration. Therefore, putting the gods to death required that there be, at least, adequate replacement for them.
        3. Their guilt and offence have to be made obvious and beyond debate to all.

The gods partner with the Wicked One, i.e., Satan to the hurt of men. This is contrary to the will of God.

The gods lend their support to Satan, "the wicked". This is contrary to the will of God and the purpose for which they were appointed over the nations.

Yahweh in the Beginning, as recorded in Genesis, we read of God speaking to his heavenly council--"Let us" [Gen 1:26].

That this is the heavenly council is confirmed in the record of the division of nations, in the prophecy of Isaiah, and in the words of the angel of Nebuchadnezzar's vision.

Now, from Job we know that the heavenly council includes the sons of God.

Yahweh speaking to Job, informs us of the presence of the sons of God at the creation of the world [Job 38:8ff].

Before the flood, we read of sons of God who mated with human women.

Evidently then, the gods were declared to be gods before the flood.

Satan through the serpent deceives the woman and causes her, and Adam, to sin [Gen 3:1-6].
